Russellville School District is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Greg Chenault as the new Head Coach of the RHS Boys' Basketball team. Coach Chenault brings over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels.

Coach Chenault comes to Russellville from Benton where he served as Bauxite's Head Girls Basketball Coach for the last 2 years. Previous to coaching Girls at Bauxite, Coach Chenault served as an assistant coach for the Boys' program. Before coaching at Bauxite, Coach Chenault led one of the nation’s best GrassRoots programs to an AAU National Runner-Up finish.

Coach Chenault believes in Player Development throughout the 7th-12th grade program. "Fundamentals are an essential part of any winning program. We plan to teach at all levels while attempting to "Master the Simple" and "Be Amazing at the Basics".

RSD Athletic Director, Ben Goodman, commented, “I'm very excited to welcome back to our community Coach Greg Chenault! Greg brings unique life experiences and a high level of coaching success. He has a very high basketball IQ and brings a dynamic plan for student-athlete success on and off the court. I'm very excited for the young men of our community and the Russellville School District!”

As a student-athlete, Coach Chenault was a standout player at both Benton High School and Arkansas Tech University.  Chenault was inducted into the Benton Athletic Memorial Museum in recognition as one of the all-time scoring leaders. While playing at ATU, Chenault was named an Academic All-American, top 10 in all-time assists, and an all-conference performer. Chenault’s teams at ATU won 3 conference championships, making them part of the most successful era of Men's basketball in ATU history.

"Russellville Basketball has a tradition of winning and I want to continue the winning tradition and achieve new heights for this school and community,” commented Coach Chenault. "The community of Russellville, along with the RSD, is a special place and it is an honor to be employed here while leading these young men to do special things."

Coach Chenault graduated from Arkansas Tech with a degree in Physical Education and Health. Chenault has also received specialized training in leadership and team dynamics from the Executive Leadership Academy.

Coach Chenault’s wife, Karen, will be coming to Russellville as well.
